Kordil KD600 is a wheeled electric winch for deployment and recovery of towfish used in marine surveying. Its drum capacity accommodates longer cable arrangements than the Kordil KD300, making it suitable for survey teams that need to manage extended tow cable from a dedicated handling station. The frame combines the drum, motor, guide mechanism and controls in a transportable assembly.
The documented configuration includes a Kordil OEM slip ring, a mechanical counter and a 4.3-inch Delta HMI touchscreen. These components support cable handling and operation of the winch assembly. Cable-out readings are useful for managing deployment and informing layback calculations, but the actual towfish location remains dependent on cable shape, vessel motion, towing speed and environmental conditions.
Kordil KD600 has a 2.2 kW main drive and operates from a 220 V, 50 Hz supply. The stated cable capacity is 600 m for 10.2 mm diameter cable, with a maximum capacity of 750 m. Maximum winding speed is 0.7 m/s and the published towing capacity is 330 kgf. The assembly weighs 223 kg without cable, so deck layout and handling arrangements should account for the complete installed configuration.
Applications include side-scan sonar work and other compatible towfish survey operations requiring controlled payout and recovery. Confirm the selected cable diameter, usable length, electrical interface and termination requirements before specifying the system. The wheels assist repositioning on a suitable surface; the winch still needs an appropriate installation and securing arrangement for vessel operation. The IP65 specification describes ingress protection and does not mean the unit can be submerged.
