Planning a marine magnetic survey

A useful equipment enquiry should describe the survey area, expected water depth, vessel arrangement and the type of target being investigated. These details help establish how the magnetometer will be deployed and how its measurements will be linked to the navigation record. Review the G-882 product page and brochure for the instrument specification, then consider tow cable requirements, handling arrangements and the separation between the sensor and potential magnetic interference on the vessel. Survey line spacing, positioning quality and consistent sensor deployment should be planned together so the resulting magnetic map can be interpreted alongside other survey information.

G-882 Cesium Marine Magnetometer
The G-882 is the industry standard marine magnetometer and is the only system that meets the standards required for UXO clearance in the North Sea. Very high-resolution Caesium Vapour performance has been incorporated onto a low cost, small size, system for professional surveys in shallow water. Operational capability up to 2700 meters and offers the opportunity to scan larger areas with maximum sampling frequency that can be increased to 20 Hz.
