3DSS-DX is an innovative solution that integrates multibeam bathymetry and sidescan sonar data into a single unified system. The system delivers high-resolution swath bathymetry with coverage up to 14 times the sonar altitude, operating efficiently in depths ranging from shallow waters (<1 m) to over 80 m. State-of-the-art acoustic transducer technology, combined with SoftSonar™ electronics and patented signal processing, provide superior swath bathymetry performance by separating backscatter arrivals from the seabed, sea-surface, water-column and multipath.

3D sidescan imagery covers the full water column, enhancing 2D resolution with real-time 3D views using Sidescan3D™ software. The 3DSS Target Logger enables easy capture and analysis of seabed features like structures, cables, debris, and vegetation with accurate, co-located visuals. Using patented signal processing, 3DSS-DX extends interferometric methods by capturing multiple simultaneous backscatter returns (seabed, surface, water column, multipath), resulting in accurate 3D imaging and advanced swath bathymetry.

At the heart of the 3DSS-DX sonar is Ping DSP’s state-of-the-art SoftSonar™ electronics technology that integrates low noise, wide dynamic range receivers with steerable transmitters, a versatile Gigabit Ethernet interface, a modular high speed digital signal processing architecture, an easy-to-use software GUI and integrated support for 3rd party hydrographic survey hardware and software.
